Zimfest 2011 will be held on the campus of Oregon State University in Corvallis, OR. Corvallis is located approximately 20 minutes off of I-5 in northwestern Oregon, 1.5 hours to the south of Portland, OR, and 1 hour north of Eugene, OR. Flights are available to Portland International Airport (PDX), and Mahlon Sweet Airport (EUG) in Eugene. Generally, flights are less expensive, and more frequent to and from Portland International Airport. HUT Shuttle serves OSU to/from PDX airport.
Welcome our Zimbabwean Guests on Thursday evening with a special event, the Zimfest Zimbabwean dinner, followed by evening concerts and the opening ceremony.
Zimfest will be centered in the McNary housing complex on the eastern side of the OSU campus. Housing will be provided in McNary and Callahan Halls, and meals will be served in the McNary Dining Center located immediately adjacent to those buildings. Many workshops will be taught inside the McNary complex; the remainder will be taught in buildings on campus within a five-minute walk of "Zimfest Village".
Afternoon concerts and the marketplace will be located in the field across the street to the north of Zimfest Village. Evening concerts will occur at La Sells Stewart Center LaSells Stewart Center on the south end of campus, located within a 10-15 minute walk through campus from Zimfest Village.
A number of alternate dining options are available 5-10 walking-minutes away (north of campus), and downtown Corvallis is located 15 walking-minutes to the east. Alternative housing options are located within 5-10 driving-minutes from campus.
OSU requires a parking permit through Friday August 12, during the hours of 7am - 5pm. The cost is $7 per day. You may buy single or multiple day permits at the Parking Services Information Booth located on Jefferson Ave between 11th & 15th St, between the hours of 7:30am - 4:30pm. (unofficial word is that if you arrive between 4:30pm and 5pm your car should not get a ticket). You may pay at one of the 'Pay and Display' stations located in each parking lot; you must buy one permit each day and the machines only take cash coins and currency. Read signs carefully, do not park in staff parking, use student or visitor lots.
Permits are not required on weekends or evenings. Permits are not required Monday August 15.
July 15 is the last day to submit a vendor application.
July 25 is the last day to purchase housing and meals. The Zimbabwean Dinner tickets must be purchased by this date. All OSU Housing and Meal Plans must be registered and paid for.
July 28 is the last day that participants may drop a workshop (for credit or to take another workshop). Participants may continue to sign up for new workshops. Workshops with less than minimum enrollment will also be canceled on this date and participants in those workshops will receive a credit that can be used for other Zimfest purchases.
July 28 is the last day to purchase concert tickets online. Tickets are available for the 'advanced purchase' price onsite at the registration table.
August 22 is the last day to file for refunds.
